Media & Fundraising Coordinator

Location: Remote, based in Cape Town

Duration: 1-year contract

About The Noakes Foundation:

The Noakes Foundation (TNF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing independent research in metabolic health, low-carbohydrate nutrition, and chronic disease prevention. We believe in questioning the science and promoting academic freedom in health research.

Our work challenges mainstream dietary narratives and advocates for evidence-based interventions that prioritize scientific integrity, open debate, and public access to knowledge. One of our key initiatives, Academic Freedom of Speech & Digital Voices (AFSDV), is focused on defending independent scientific discourse in an era of digital censorship.

We are seeking a Media & Fundraising Coordinator to amplify TNF’s message, attract funding, and strengthen media engagement. This role requires a strategic, creative, and proactive professional with a passion for scientific freedom, public relations, and fundraising.

Key Responsibilities:

Media & Public Relations

  • Develop and implement media strategies to enhance TNF’s public presence.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, media outlets, and influencers.
  • Draft and distribute press releases, op-eds, and media pitches to promote TNF’s research and initiatives.
  • Identify and secure media coverage and interviews for TNF’s leadership.
  • Monitor trends in nutrition, health, and academic freedom to identify PR opportunities.

Fundraising & Sponsorship Development

  • Identify and engage potential donors, corporate sponsors, and funding partners.
  • Develop funding proposals and sponsorship materials tailored to different stakeholders.
  • Maintain a database of fundraising opportunities and track donor engagement.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating fundraising campaigns and donor events.
  • Monitor fundraising performance and adjust strategies where needed.

Stakeholder Engagement & Administrative Support

  • Manage key relationships with funders, partners, and media contacts.
  • Support the team in coordinating fundraising and media-related events.
  • Work closely with TNF’s internal teams to ensure messaging and outreach efforts align with organizational goals.
  • Provide general administrative support related to fundraising and communications.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 3–5 years of experience in media, PR, fundraising, or communications.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, with experience in crafting media pitches and funding proposals.
  • Proven ability to secure media coverage and develop strategic PR campaigns.
  • Experience in fundraising, donor relations, or sponsorship acquisition.
  • Strong networking skills, with the ability to build relationships across sectors.
  • A passion for scientific integrity, open debate, and health advocacy.
  • Prior experience in the non-profit sector is an advantage.

Is This Role for You?

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Wants to make a real impact in public health and scientific research by helping to amplify independent voices in nutrition and health advocacy.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced work environment, balancing remote work with in-office in Cape Town.
  • Is eager to grow—whether it’s refining PR skills, mastering fundraising strategies, or building connections with key stakeholders.
  • Enjoys working in a mission-driven team that challenges conventional thinking and is dedicated to creating lasting change in health and nutrition.

Application Process:

Interested candidates should submit the following:

  1. A detailed CV highlighting relevant experience.
  2. A cover letter outlining why they are a good fit for this role.
  3. Availability & Salary Expectations
  4. Examples of past PR or fundraising work (if available).

Send your application to info@thenoakesfoundation.org

We look forward to welcoming a dedicated professional to our team who is ready to make a lasting impact on the future of metabolic health research and advocacy.
