We’re hiring: Part-time, data analyst

The Noakes Foundation (TNF) is looking for a freelance data analyst to work part-time for the Online Academic Bullying (OAB) project over three months (November – January, 2021). For background on the project, please visit https://www.researchgate.net/project/Online-academic-bullying

The analyst will primarily be responsible for exporting .csv Twitter data extracts into NVivo or atlas.ti qualitative research software. Data needs to be ready for  coding and analysing URL’s varied uses on Twitter by December. The research team would also like another set of data in the form of  26 episodes, to be imported by January. Most episodes did not extract more than 100 tweets. 

About the organisation 

TNF aims to fix the future outlook of human health, by changing the way people eat and the food policies to enable this. A non-profit founded for public benefit following Prof Tim Noakes’ incredible reversal of his own diabetes diagnosis, aims to fix the future outlook of human health, by changing the way people eat and the food policies to enable this. It’s focus is on providing evidence-based information on optimum nutrition that is free from commercial agenda or funding. 

Our belief is that research’s role is that of foregrounding the truth. Our team’s research methods adhere to the highest standards of academic integrity.

Required attributes

  • Analytically-minded, logical problem solver
  • Statistical background
  • Excel skills and experience with .csv file structure 
  • Willing to do an online qualitative research software (QSR)  course (on either NVivo or atlas.ti) if inexperienced with QSR
  • Experience with data visualisation would be helpful

Role: 3 month contract, part-part time (100 hours per month)

Salary: R20 000 p/m

Reports to: Senior Operations Manager and Project Leader

Place of work: Office in Cape town or home at your discretion
